Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the most popular destinations for gorilla trekking expeditions in Uganda. Situated between 1160m to 2607m above sea level, Bwindi is a renowned home to the endangered mountain gorillas. It was officially launched in 1991 and declared a UNESCO Natural heritage site in 1994. Great World Heritage Site
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of the the only three world heritage sites in Uganda. It was given this status given its uniqueness! It used to protect, support and feed 3 great apes who used to call it home. Lucky enough two of these great apes are still jealously protected inside the forest boundaries i.e the mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. Sadly, the humans who used in the forest were evicted from the forest so that the endangered mountain gorillas can be better protected. The uniqueness of Bwindi has made it famous and known to many people who travel from all the corners of the world.
Mountain Gorillas
Bwindi impenetrable Forest is among the only four national parks hosting the endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla tourism was introduced in Bwindi Forest in the 1990s! The Mubare Gorilla group at Buhoma was the first habituated gorilla family and officially launched for tourism in April 1993. More than 420 members of mountain gorillas live in the Bwindi Forest. Today there are 17 habituated gorilla families that live inside the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it is the first priority for tourists looking to gorilla watching in Africa.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in south western Uganda and is sandwiched with other amazing national parks.
